Hepatitis B and C Classes for Prevention Providers

Hep C Connection has worked with the Colorado Department of Public Health to develop this half-day course for prevention providers that covers the basics of hepatitis B and C, including virology, transmission, and treatment. Additionally the class discusses who should be screened for both viruses, the screening tests available and requirements around reporting, and local organizations that provide testing and/or vaccinations. An overview on risk reduction counseling, along with resources and referrals for positives, will be provided. New this year, the class will offer the official training on the OraSure rapid hepatitis C antibody test, along with CDPHE’s guidelines around rapid testing. Those who go through the training will receive a testing certificate from OraSure and a completion certificate from Hep C Connection and CDPHE.

Classes are scheduled around the state throughout the year or can be arranged upon request. Training in Spanish is available.

Overview for Non-Clinical Professionals

In this one-hour overview on hepatitis C, Hep C Connection explains transmission, risk factors, testing, and resources for positives. Intended for those who need a basic explanation or quick refresher on hepatitis C, this is an ideal “lunch and learn” session for health departments, AIDS service organizations, community health centers or substance abuse facilities.

“Hepatitis C 101” Class for Patients

Intended for patients entering treatment or considering their treatment options, our Hepatitis C 101 class discusses the current standard of care in treatment, including dosing schedules, potential side effects, stopping rules and tips for complying with the regimen. Information on hepatitis C management, including nutrition and support, is also provided.

Speaker’s Bureau

Hep C Connection’s Speaker’s Bureau series brings trained speakers to club and organization meetings and business “lunch and learns” to provide 30-minute presentations about hepatitis C. The presentation includes an overview of the organization, a discussion of hepatitis C risk factors, symptoms, and treatment, and leaves time for Q&A. Please contact us if you are interested in having Hep C Connection speak at your next meeting!
